the history and marvels of India.
Mumbai, a hub of trade and commerce, was influenced by
different cultures.
Various styles of
architecture from Mughal to Gothic style were found in Mumbai.
From the many remarkable structures of Mumbai The
Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus is having its own unique presence.
The purpose of making
such a huge structure was the golden jubilee of Queen Victoria hence it was at
first known as The Victoria Terminus.
The Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus
This remarkable
building is spread across the area of 2.85 hectare.
The building
inculcates the architectural styles of Victorian Italianate gothic revival and
Hindu palaces.
Timeless beautiful
structures of stone dome, turrets, pointed arches, eccentric ground plan are
close to the Indian palaces whilst the main architectural structure is of the
gothic style.
This marvellous structure is a true mix of the two cultures.

The building have Gothic designs from the late medieval
Italian models whilst themes from Indian traditional architecture.
The Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus was built by Chief
Architect F. It was built by W. Stevens and took 10 years of patience to build
this legendary building.
